Samantha Wells (born August 2, 1989 in Waratah ) is an Australian freestyle skier . She specializes in the aerials (jumping) discipline.
Career
Wells made his debut in January 2012 in Mont Gabriel in the World Cup and finished it in sixth place. This was followed by three more top 10 placements and at the end of the 2011/12 season, the 13th place in the Aerials discipline ranking . Her best World Cup result in the following 2012/13 season was ninth in Sochi . At the 2013 World Championships in Voss , she was sixth. In the 2013/14 season she was twice in the top ten in five World Cup appearances and thus reached 12th place in the Aerials discipline. At the season highlight, the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, she finished 18th.
After taking a break in the 2014/15 season, Wells reached three top 10 finishes in the 2015/16 season . She achieved her first World Cup podium with second place in Deer Valley and finished eighth in the Aerials discipline at the end of the season. In the 2016/17 season she achieved two top 10 results in six World Cup starts, including 3rd place in Beida Lake , which brought her to 12th place in the Aerials discipline. She finished tenth at the 2017 World Championships in Sierra Nevada .
Wells has taken part in 32 World Cups so far and made it into the top ten 13 times. (Status: end of season 2016/17).
