Samba is a city ( Municipal Committee ) in the south of the Indian Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir .
It forms the administrative seat of the district of the same name . In the 2011 census, the population was 12,700.
The city of Samba is located in the lowlands about 30 km southeast of Jammu at the foot of the Siwaliks . The city is at an altitude of 347 m . The Degh Nala River flows west of Samba. The National Highway 1A runs through the city. The trunk road connects Samba with Jammu in the west and Kathua in the east.
