Sambo "Sammy" Choji (born March 13, 1977 ) is a former Nigerian soccer player . The striker spent most of his career with the German club 1. FC Saarbrücken .

Career

In his youth, Sambo Choji played in Nigeria with the Greater Tomorrow club and with a German club from Hostenbach . 1993 joined the Nigerian U-17 national team at the U-17 World Cup in Japan , where the team won the title.

From 1995 he played in the first team of 1. FC Saarbrücken , with which he initially competed in the Regionalliga West / Südwest . In 2000 the promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga followed , in which Saarbrücken was able to hold until 2002. After relegation to the regional league that year, Choji left the club.

This was followed by one-year positions at the second division club Eintracht Braunschweig and again at 1. FC Saarbrücken, with whom he reached third place in the final table of the Regionalliga Süd in 2003/04 and thus the renewed second division promotion. However, in the same year Choji was loaned to the Iranian club Persepolis from Tehran , to which he finally moved in 2005. In 2006 Choji played for six months in Austria at SKN St. Pölten .
