The Sami Parliament in Sweden ( Swedish Sametinget , Northern Sami Sámediggi , Lule Sámedigge , South Sami Saemiedigkie ) is the parliament of the seeds in Sweden . As a state authority, the Sami Parliament has the power to implement the policies decided by the Swedish Parliament and the government, which sometimes goes against the party program of the elected Sami members. The meeting has 31 members who are elected every four years. In Finland and Norway , there is a respective Sami Parliament.
history
In Sweden, the Sameting Act came into force on January 1, 1993. The first elections to the Sameting took place on May 16, 1993, and on August 26, 1993 King Carl XVI opened. Gustaf the first session of the Swedish Sampling in Kiruna .
In 2007, certain government tasks were transferred from the administrative boards of the county and the state agricultural authority to the Sami parliament, which became the central administrative authority on reindeer herding, thereby clearly separating the political and executive parts of the matter. In connection with the minority reform in 2010, the Sami Parliament, together with the Stockholm County Administrative Board, became responsible for monitoring compliance with the law.
Seat
The main office of the Sami parliament is located in Kiruna in the province of Norrbotten County , but the plenary of the Sami parliament does not currently have its own permanent premises. In 2006 the state real estate agency announced a winner of the architectural competition for a new Sami parliament building in Kiruna to be built in the new center of Kiruna or elsewhere. However, no decision has yet been made or funding has been secured (2017).
