Samsonman
The Samsonman was a cycling event until 2008 and has been a running event in Sankt Michael im Lungau (State of Salzburg , Austria ) since 2005 , which has been taking place in summer since 1989. It is named after the traditional giant figure of Samson .
The Samsonman Cycle Marathon was held annually in July. Most recently (2008) it consisted of four races over distances of 54 km (350 meters altitude ), 108 km (700 HM), 160 km (3400 HM) and 220 km (4600 HM). For the 20th anniversary on June 20 to June 22, 2008, the Salzburg Regional Cycling Association also organized a 108-kilometer race for licensed riders according to the regulations of the Austrian Cycling Association (ÖRV).
The 54 and 108 km routes consisted of a circuit through the Lungau , which was driven through once or twice. The longer stretches first ran through the Gurktal Alps and forked in Flattnitz . The 160 km route led from there directly via Tamsweg back to St. Michael, the 220 km route described an arc over Sankt Lambrecht , Niederwölz and Oberwölz , before returning to the starting point via Tamsweg.
The Samsonman running marathon takes place in August. It consists of a circular route around St. Michael, which is run one (quarter marathon), two ( half marathon ) or four times ( marathon ).
