Samsung Galaxy A5
The Samsung Galaxy A5 is a range of smartphones from Samsung in the mid-price segment.
With the advertising campaign under the motto “A is the new mini”, Samsung confirmed that the Galaxy A series is the successor to the Galaxy S mini series.
The Galaxy A5 is to be replaced by the Galaxy A8 + in 2018, which is not intended for the German market.
The successors to the Galaxy A5 are the A50 and A70 , which were presented in April 2019. Both models are also available on the German market.

The first generation of the Galaxy A5 was presented in December 2014 together with the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2015). They have been available in large parts of Europe since January 13, 2015. The device name of this generation is SM-A500FU.
design
The Galaxy A5 (2015) is the first smartphone from Samsung with an entirely metal case . The edges are beveled and have a reflective effect. On the front are below the large 5-inch Super AMOLED - display a physical home button, and a back and a multitasking button, so-called "soft buttons". The back is kept simple. Only the loudspeaker , the camera including flash , a Samsung logo and the type designation are attached to it.

The second generation of the Galaxy A5 was presented on December 2, 2015 together with the Samsung Galaxy A3 (2016) and the Samsung Galaxy A7 (2016). The device name of this generation is SM-A510FZKAATO.
design
The design of the second generation Galaxy A5 has been revised compared to its predecessor. The back is now made of glass. The speakers have been moved to the lower side. The flash now moves to its previous position to the right of the camera . The dimensions of the A5 (2016) generally increased compared to those of the A5.
software
The Samsung Galaxy A5 (2016) was delivered with the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system . In 2016 the update to Android 6.0 Marshmallow was distributed. Android 7.0 Nougat has been available for installation since May 2017.

Innovations
The main memory increased from 2 GB to 3 GB compared to the A5 (2016) . The capacity of the internal memory has been doubled to 32 GB , and the resolution of the front camera has been increased from 5 to 16 MP . In addition, the Galaxy A5 (2017) has limited protection against dust and splash water in accordance with IP68.
The device name of this generation is SM-A520FZBAATO. There is also a dual SIM version called SM-A520F / DS, with which it is possible to use up to two nanoSIM and one microSD card.

The operating system of the Samsung Galaxy A5 (2017) is Android 6.0 Marshmallow. Updates to Android 7.0 Nougat and 8.0 Oreo are available.
