The Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 is a tablet computer based on the Android operating system from the South Korean manufacturer Samsung Electronics . The third generation of the Galaxy Tab was launched in Germany in 2013 and was available with screen diagonals of 7, 8 and 10.1 inches. The predecessor was the Galaxy Tab 2 , the successor was the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 .

The 10.1-inch models have a 21.76 cm × 13.60 cm, slightly anti-reflective TFT LC display with a resolution of 1280 × 800 pixels (pixel size 170 µm) and up to 16 million displayable colors. The maximum luminance (brightness) is 388 cd / m² with a contrast of 143: 1. The 1.6 GHz dual core processor has 1 GB of working memory and 16 or 32 GB of mass storage available. Other features include a 3-megapixel main camera, 1.3-megapixel front camera, video function with HD resolution (1280 × 720 pixels) and WLAN support. In addition to data transmission with 3G (HSPA + up to 42 Mbit / s) and possibly LTE, the 3G and 4G / LTE versions also offer calls and SMS in quad-band mode as well as a built-in microphone. The available memory can be expanded by up to 64 GB via a microSD slot. Android Jelly Bean 4.2 is used as the operating system. An update to Android 4.4.2 KitKat has been available since the end of 2014. There were three models available: 1.) GT-P5210 only with WiFi , 2.) GT-P5200 with WiFi and 3G, 3.) GT-P5220 ) with WiFi and 3G-4G / LTE. The dimensions are 243.1 × 176.1 × 7.95 mm, the weight 510 grams.

In addition to the smaller screen, the 8-inch models also differ from the 10.1-inch models in that they have a slightly lower contrast (132: 1) and luminance (375 cd / m²) as well as a slightly better pixel density (190 ppi). The 1.5 GHz dual-core processor Exynos 4212 A9 works with 1.5 GB of working memory and 16 or 32 GB of mass storage. The main camera has 5 megapixels, the 3G data module supports HSPA + up to 21 Mbit / s. There were three models available (16 GB): 1.) SM-T310 with WiFi only , 2.) SM-T311 with WiFi and 3G, 3.) SM-T315 ) with WiFi and 3G-4G / LTE, the dimensions are 209.8 × 123.8 × 7.4 mm, the weight 314 grams.

In addition to the smaller screen, the 7-inch models (resolution 1024 × 600 pixels) also differ from the 10.1-inch models in that they have a slightly better luminance (434 cd / m²) and significantly poorer color reproduction and sharpness. The 1.2 GHz dual core processor has 1 GB of working memory and 8 GB of mass storage available. There were three models available (8 GB): 1.) SM-T210 only with WiFi , 2.) SM-T211 with WiFi and 3G, 3.) SM-T215 ) with WiFi and 3G-4G / LTE, the dimensions are 188 × 112 × 11 mm, the weight 302 grams.

There were two Lite models ( SM-T110 with WiFi and SM-T111 additionally with 3G) with a 7-inch screen (1024 × 600 pixels with 16 million colors). A dual-core processor ARM Cortex-A9 with 1.2 GHz and dual-core graphics processor Vivante GC1000 are used. There is no front camera, the main camera has almost 2 megapixels, the video function 0.3 megapixels at 30 fps. The tablet can be expanded with a microSD card with a maximum of 32 GB. The release date was 01/2014 and Android 4.2.2 was delivered, an update was not delivered. The dimensions are 193.4 × 116.4 × 9.7 mm, the battery is 3,600 mAh and the weight is 310 grams.
A tablet was offered as the SM-T113 , which the above. The design is largely the same, known differences are: 1.3 GHz QuadCore processor Spreadtrum SC7730S with graphics Mali 400 P and Android 4.1, 3G radio module (UMTS) and in some cases 1.5 GB of RAM.
A tablet was / is offered as the SM-T116 that corresponds to the above. The design is largely the same, known differences are: 1.2 GHz QuadCore processor Spreadtrum SC8830S (ARM) with graphics Mali 400 MP2 and Android 4.4.4, 3G radio module (UMTS). The device was presented in early 2015.
