The Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1 (model designation GT-P5100 ( 3G version) and GT-P5110 ( Wi-Fi version)) is a tablet computer based on the Android operating system from the South Korean company Samsung . With a screen diagonal of a little more than 25 cm, this Galaxy Tab is a direct competitor to the Apple iPad . The tablet computer is the successor to the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and, in Germany, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1N . The second generation of the Galaxy Tab came onto the market in Germany in May 2012 and is offered in two versions: Wi-Fi only or Wi-Fi and 3G. The successor Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 10.1 appeared in 2013.

Technical details

The TFT LC display measures 21.76 cm × 13.60 cm (10.1 inches) with a resolution of 1280 × 800 pixels (pixel size 170 µm). The display has a maximum luminance of 388 cd / m², a contrast of 143: 1 and can display up to 16 million color nuances . In contrast to the previous models, the display was slightly anti-reflective . The 1.0 GHz dual core - processor has 1024 MiB RAM available. Other features include a video camera with Half-HD resolution (1280 × 720 pixels ≈ 0.9 megapixels), cellular communications with HSPA + up to 21 Mbit / s, WLAN support and a 3-megapixel photo camera. Android Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 is used as the operating system. In contrast to its predecessor, WLAN is no longer supported in the 5 GHz band.

The 3G version of this tablet has quad-band equipment and a built-in microphone and functions as a mobile phone .

The available memory can be officially expanded by up to 32 GiB via a microSD slot. Unofficially, 64 GiB also work. The FAT32 file system must be available on the 64 GiB MicroSD card for this . However, not all SDXC cards work.

In addition, there was also a smaller version of the Tab 2 with only 7 "screen diagonal, without anti-reflective coating and a resolution of 1024 x 600, optionally with WLAN only or additionally 3G and UMTS and Android 4.1.1 Jelly Bean, 2 cameras with 3 MP resp. 0.3 MP, Bluetooth 3.0 and GPS. The internal memory was 8, 16 or gigabytes (the smallest variant only for 7 "), the main memory 1 gigabyte, the weight was 344 grams.
