Samuel E. Beetley

Samuel E. Beetley (born November 23, 1913 in San Antonio , Texas , † September 15, 1988 in Santa Cruz , California ) was an American film editor .

Life

Samuel E. Beetley began his career as an editor in the late 1930s. Involved exclusively in cinema productions until 1952, in that decade he turned to television and participated in various television series. Some feature films followed again in the 1960s and 1970s, but its focus remained on television until the 1980s.

From 1969 to 1973 Beetley also worked as a post-production manager for various television productions.

In 1968 he and Marjorie Fowler were nominated for an Oscar for the film Doktor Dolittle in the category Best Editing . He received an initial nomination for the award in 1963 for his work on the war film The Longest Day . For this production, Beetley received the Eddie Award from the American Cinema Editors .

In 1974 and 1976 Beetley received an Emmy award . In the 1950s he was nominated four times for this award.
