Samuel Henderson

Samuel Henderson (born November 27, 1764 in England , †  November 17, 1841 in Upper Merion , Pennsylvania ) was an American politician . In 1814 and 1815 he represented the state of Pennsylvania in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Samuel Henderson attended schools in his English homeland. In 1782 he emigrated to the United States, where he settled in Montgomery County , Pennsylvania. There he operated some marble quarries. Politically, he became a member of the Federalist Party founded by Alexander Hamilton in the late 1790s .

After the resignation of deputies Jonathan Roberts Henderson was at the due election in the second district of Pennsylvania as his successor in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC chosen, where he took up his new mandate on 11 October 1814th By March 3, 1815, he was able to end the current legislative period in Congress . During this time the British-American War ended .

After serving in the US House of Representatives, Samuel Henderson resumed his previous work in his quarries. He died on November 17, 1841 on his Montgomery County estate.
