The San Miguel Bay ( Spanish Bahía de San Miguel ) is a part of the Philippine Sea , on the northeast coast of the Bicol Peninsula in the Philippines . The bay covers an area of 1,115 km² and has a coastline of 188 km. In the south of the bay the Bicol River flows into the bay, it is the largest freshwater inflow into the bay.
The province of Camarines Norte is located in the west and Camarines Sur is located in the south and east of the bay. There are numerous sandy beaches and mangrove forests along the coastline . Ninety-five percent of the seabed in the bay is covered with sandy and silty bottoms. About five percent are covered by coral reefs , most of which are located in the northwest and northeast of the bay and together with seaweed and algae beds line the coastline of the islands at the exit to the Philippine Sea .
