history
San Francisco was founded on September 9, 1886 by José Bernardo Iturraspe . From the time it was founded until the 1960s, mainly Italian immigrants from Piedmont came to the area. There are two versions of the origin of the city name. One relates to the existence of a nearby fortress named after San Francisco. The other version takes into account that the city founder named the place San Francisco after the name of his favorite brother .
