San Giuseppe da Copertino is a titular church in Rome .

overview

The parish was originally founded in 1956 as San Marco Evangelista in Agro Laurentino . A new church was consecrated on December 7, 1956. In 1972, with the massive increase in population, a new church for San Marco Evangelista was built in Agro Laurentino in the Giuliano-Dalmata district .

Since October 1, 1979, the parish with the "old" church has been an independent parish and dedicated to the patron saint St. Joseph of Copertino , a Franciscan Minorite, by the decree Le molteplici sollecitudin by Cardinal Vicar Ugo Poletti . Until 2001 the Church was entrusted to the Minorites .

On February 14, 2015, the elevation to the title church of the Roman Catholic Church took place by Pope Francis .

The modern church building is hidden and not easy to find; recognizable only by a two-story gable made of red brick. A one-story entrance hall welcomes the visitor and leads him on into a church with an octagonal floor plan. The interior is made of brick walls, interrupted by light strips with stained glass below the roof line. The concrete roof rests on the diagonal walls, with eight huge T-beams divided into triangular sectors.

The church is located at Via dei Genieri 12 in the Giuliano-Dalmata district of the Cecchignola district in southern Rome.
