The sanctuary of San Salvatore is located on the hill Mitza Santu Srabadori south of the hamlet Figu, a district of Gonnosnò in the province of Oristano in Sardinia .

The well sanctuary has been known since 1918 when Antonio Taramelli (1886–1939) published a message about it in an article about the well sanctuary of Santa Anastasìa in Sardara . The archaeological area was scientifically investigated in 2001-2002 by Emerenziana Usai and Maria Cristina Ciccone.

The fountain sanctuary presents the canonical elements of its monument type, the atrium, the staircase and the underground tholos . A passage with a strongly tapering trapezoidal shape, highlighted by an irregular, cuboid architrave , leads to the stairwell. It consists of a 6 m long descent to the underground chamber. Flat, large blocks were used for covering, mostly partially overlapping and protruding and only a short distance perfectly next to each other. The circular chamber (about 2.2 m in diameter) is partially carved into the natural rock and carries the walled tholos made of regular, square blocks of local marl, which are roughly worked, with earth inserted between the laying surfaces.

The well sanctuary shows elements of a re-use after the Nuragic period (1600 BC to about 500 BC) The mouth of the well was bordered on the side by two walls built in later times. Below the layers in front of the fountain, which can be dated to the late Middle Ages , walls were identified which, in terms of their construction, probably represent the oldest entrance hall to the fountain. Ritual evidence on the atrium dates from the Punic period, with a betylic element being reused. There was probably a small church from the Byzantine era near the well .

San Salvatore is not isolated, as the four giant tombs of Is Lapideddas , which have been the subject of archaeological research in recent years , are 300 m east of the well sanctuary . In the area of Figu and Gonnosnò there are numerous nuraghi with only one tower: Emmauru , Marafiu , Montimaiori , Nieddiu , Nurafà , Sirus , Su Nuraxi , Su Sensu , Terr'e Monti and Tramatza .
