The Sanctuary Glacier ( English for refuge glacier ) is a glacier in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In the Queen Maud Mountains it is almost completely circled by the Gothic Mountains . It flows from the Outlook Peak area and the Organ Pipe Peaks in a westerly direction to the Scott Glacier in Marie Byrd Land .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 1981 at the suggestion of the US geologist Edmund Stump (* 1946), whose team of geologists at Arizona State University he led had set up its base camp here in January 1981. It is named after the protected geographic location of the glacier in the Gothic Mountains.
