Sand cave fish (Creediidae) are a family of small fish , a maximum of 8 centimeters long, that live in the Indo-Pacific from South Africa to Hawaii and Easter Island .

features

They are elongated, the long dorsal fin has 13 to 43 undivided soft rays . The anal fin is also long, the pelvic fins are in the chest, are close together and are supported by 3 to 5 soft rays. They are missing from Apodocreedia . Some species are almost without scales, but the scales along the lateral line organ are always present. The sideline runs gradually or abruptly towards the abdomen. The eyes protrude slightly. The muzzle is fleshy. The upper jaw protrudes over the lower jaw. The lower jaw bears a number of cirrus.
