Sandro Antal

Sandro Antal (born October 28, 1943 in Budapest ) is a German sculptor living in Düsseldorf .

He is a trained sign painter and commercial artist. After fleeing Hungary , he attended the Düsseldorf Art Academy from 1974 to 1981 , where he worked as a lecturer in metal sculpture between 1981 and 1985. From 1986 to 1989 he worked as a lecturer for the University of Essen . In 1993 he was visiting professor at the University of Applied Sciences in Aachen . In 1996 he led a workshop at the Goethe Institute on Lagos, Nigeria.

Sandro Antal is known for his sculptures made of steel . He was inspired by his environment, the heavy industry of the Ruhr area . In August 2006, he was badly burned in a gasoline explosion in his studio .

Some of his sculptures are in public spaces in Bonn , Darmstadt , Düsseldorf , Gelsenkirchen , Heidenheim an der Brenz , Herne and Remscheid .

Sandro Antal is a member of the Association of Düsseldorf Artists .
