Sandro Roy

Sandro Roy (* 1994 in Augsburg ) is a German violinist .

Live and act

Roy was born into a family of Sinti musicians. From the age of seven he received violin lessons and in 2007 he was awarded the national prize at the youth music competition . At the age of 15 he started taking master classes in Munich, Salzburg and Bern. He has performed as a soloist with the Augsburg University Orchestra . In 2011 he received the special art sponsorship award from the city of Augsburg. He studies at the Leopold Mozart Center at the University of Augsburg and teaches at the Wittl Music School in Parsberg . In 2015 his debut album Where I Come From was released on the record label Skip Records .

This was followed by appearances at the Rheingau Music Festival , the St. Ingbert Jazz Festival and at the Federal President at Bellevue Palace together with the RTV Symphony Orchestra Slovenia and in the ZDF morning magazine . He has appeared as a soloist with the NDR Big Band and the German Chamber Philharmonic in Bremen.

In 2018 his album Souvenir de Paris was released with the Jermaine Landsberger Trio and guests Roby Lakatos and Marcel Löffler . This was followed by a live show on BBC Radio London and a concert with the Jermaine Landsberger Trio at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in London.

In 2019, Roy played with the Münchner Rundfunk-Orchester in the Prinzregententheater in Munich and became part of Bayer Kultur's stARTacademy funding program.
