Sandra Wayne "Sandy" Poulsen (born July 24, 1952 in San Francisco , California ) is a former American ski racer .

Growing up near Squaw Valley , Poulsen was almost destined to become a ski racer. Her father, Wayne Poulsen, was a ski jumper who competed in the 1932 United States Olympics. Her mother Sandy, a real estate agent , was also a very good skier. Poulsen is the only girl under eight children, her brothers Eric and Lance also competed for the US World Cup team.

Between 1970 and 1974 Sandy Poulsen competed for the Nevada University team in the World Cup . She achieved her only podium finish on February 11, 1973 in Abetone, Italy - a third place in the giant slalom. It also achieved 13 other top 10 placements. In the overall World Cup of the 1971/72 season she reached 16th place. In 1972 Poulsen became the US giant slalom champion. In the same year she took part in the Winter Olympics in Sapporo , where she was 21st in the downhill but was eliminated in the giant slalom. Two years later, at the 1974 World Cup in St. Moritz, she finished eleventh in giant slalom and 22nd in the downhill.

After retiring from her career, Poulsen moved back to Squaw Valley where, like her mother, she works as a real estate agent and is Vice President of Squaw Valley Realty .
