Live and act

Kleff grew up in the Hanseatic cities of Bremen and Hamburg as well as in North Rhine-Westphalia . She studied German language and literature in Ankara, the city of her birth, and then started working as an interpreter and translator. She began working as a teacher in migrant school classes at a Berlin secondary school. She also held various offices in the Berlin Education and Science Union. In 2000 Kleff took over the management and redesign of School Without Racism - School With Courage. Since then, not only racism in the classic sense, but all forms of discrimination (based on religion, social origin, gender, physical characteristics, political worldview and sexual orientation) have been included in the project approach. Until 2015, Kleff was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Amadeu Antonio Foundation and is chairwoman of the board of Aktion Courage .

She is also the author and publisher of titles on the subject of intercultural learning and co-author of the publications issued by the Federal Coordination School without Racism - School with Courage , including on the subjects of racism , school social work and right-wing populism .

Public discussion

Sanem Kleff hit the headlines in 2008 because she was responsible for the press law for the school magazine Q-rage (title Selam Germany ). In the booklet there are allegations against evangelical Christians. They were intolerant, unconstitutional, dangerous and stupid, it said there. Thomas Krüger , President of the Federal Agency for Civic Education , which co-finances the magazine, had to distance himself from the article after it was published.
