The Medical Regiment 4 ( SanRgt 4 ) is a military service unit of the Central Medical Service of the Bundeswehr , which is subordinate to the Medical Service Support Command in Weißenfels . The approximately 200 members of the medical association are stationed in the Theodor Blank barracks in Rheine .

history

With his order of the day of July 1, 2019, the Inspector General of the Bundeswehr decided to set up and station an additional medical regiment in the Theodor Blank barracks in Rheine on April 1, 2020 . In its initial formation, the association consists of a staff of two medical companies and a medical training company with a total of 200 soldiers. Further units will follow immediately. The target size for the new medical regiment is around 1000 workers.

assignment

The Medical Regiment 4 is an association of the medical troops for the medical service support of operations for crisis management and conflict prevention, for national and alliance defense, for humanitarian aid and similar obligations. For this purpose, it is equipped with mobile medical service personnel from supply levels 1 (first emergency medical care) to 2 (rescue center). These include the first emergency surgical, internal, psychiatric and dental / oral surgical measures following the first general and emergency medical first aid.

The regimental command of the medical regiment 4 performs the troop and specialist management tasks at the association level towards the subordinate units in the basic operation. In addition, it guarantees the ability to train and exercise as well as the operational readiness of the subordinate units.

The medical regiment 4 works closely with the superior command authority within the framework of the training, exercise and operational association, in particular with the medical service health facilities, the medical teams on duty, the supply and repair centers of medical supplies, the medical teams of medical supplies on operations and the other associations of the medical troops and the medical services to support units together.

structure

The medical regiment 4 consists in its initial configuration of three companies. The staff of the medical regiment 4 serves to lead these units. This consists of the regiment leadership, the staff department heads and the staff platoon.

Ambulance company

As an ambulance company, the 2nd Company ensures transport of the sick and wounded as well as patient care and has the means to ensure initial emergency medical treatment in highly mobile rescue stations. For this purpose, she has the assistant staff, appropriate emergency medical material and protected and unprotected means of transport for patient evacuation and stabilization as well as rescue stations ready, which are staffed with appropriate emergency physicians in a foreign assignment. In Germany, the company is responsible for maintaining the technical competence of its medical staff as well as for the material readiness for action. Thus the ambulance company is an important link on the way to treatment level 2 in the form of a rescue center.

Medical company rescue center

The 3rd Company, as a medical company, keeps personnel and material ready in order to be able to map treatment level 2 in the form of a rescue center if required. In this treatment facility, comprehensive shock control, first emergency surgical interventions, limited further diagnostics and intensive medical treatment as well as general care for the sick and wounded can be carried out. For this purpose, the company has tents and containers, which can be expanded modularly depending on requirements in order to be adapted to the location and sustainably sustainable.

Medical training company

From 2021, the 11th Company will carry out the general military basic qualification for military personnel for the medical service of the Bundeswehr for up to 192 recruits. It consists of the two-month basic module (a shortened basic training ) and the subsequent one-month supplementary module .

Internal association badge

The regimental coat of arms of the Sanitary Regiment 4 has the shape of the heraldic triangular shield. This is divided into three parts by a round Göpel cut in the lower area. The right field shows the coat of arms of the medical service of the Bundeswehr, the left field shows the coat of arms of the city of Rheine and in the lower part there are sticks and irons.

Reasons for the coat of arms in the front (right) field

The right-hand side in dark blue (5013 cobalt blue) symbolizes the “weapon color” of the Bundeswehr medical service. The Iron Cross in the middle depicts the Bundeswehr badge. This is overlaid by the Aesculapian staff, a staff wound around it by a snake. Originally it was an attribute of Asclepius (German: Aesculapia), the god of medicine in Greek mythology. Today it is the symbol of the medical and pharmaceutical status and thus reflects all approvals of the Bundeswehr (doctor, dentist, veterinarian or pharmacist).

Reasons for the coat of arms rear (left) field

The coat of arms of the city of RHEINE is a red bar on a gold background. This is covered with three six-pointed golden stars placed on a tip. The colors and the metal were originally gold-red-silver, then in the 17th century they were converted to the color and metals silver-red-gold and finally in 1954 to the color and metal gold-red-gold. A gold star is used as a helmet jewel between an open flight, divided by gold and red across the corner. The model of the city coat of arms is the pin shield of the Principality of Münster, extended by the three golden stars. The blazon underlines the claim of territorial rule over the city by the prince-bishopric. The three stars added to the coat of arms of the diocese are symbols for St. Dionysius as patron of the first church and thus patron saint of the city as well as his two close confidants Rusticus and Eleutherius. The symbol represents the medical regiment 4 stationed at the RHEINE site and closely connected to the city.

Foundation of the coat of arms lower field

The symbol of mallets and iron on the red background of the coat of arms of North Rhine-Westphalia is intended to represent the bond with the mining region of North Rhine-Westphalia. The traditional tools of mallets and irons were previously used in mining. For centuries, this manual work was the only permanent technique for driving tunnels, routes and shafts through the solid rock. It was not until the 17th century that gunpowder shooting replaced this handicraft. It has been used as a miner's coat of arms since the first half of the 16th century. The iron held in the left hand is aligned with the handle wood to the left and the pointed iron to the right. In this arrangement, the tools are within easy reach and the mallet handle is at the right hand of the right-hander. Crossing the bars makes the pair of tools easier to find by touching them - even in the dark. The symbolism of mallets and irons does not only mean “energy and craftsmanship”, but also indicates the special solidarity of the “miners” underground. These are attributes that should also apply to all members of the new medical regiment 4. In addition, mallets and irons also represent a process of transformation and change (end of mining). A similarly profound change with the refocusing on national and alliance defense ultimately led to the establishment of the regiment.
