The Transport Helicopter Regiment 30 ( TrspHubschrRgt 30 ) is an Army Aviation Regiment of the Bundeswehr . Like all other Army Aviation Associations, it is subordinate to the Rapid Forces Division and stationed at the Niederstetten Army Airfield . In addition, the 7th squadron of the regiment maintains two detachments at the Holzdorf and Nörvenich air bases .

assignment

The regiment has the task of providing transport space for the support of the combat troops and for training and exercise. Furthermore, it provides emergency services for deployments at home and abroad. However, it also provides disaster and fire-fighting aid from the air and carries out evacuation missions in an emergency.

history

The regiment was set up on April 1, 1971 as a light Heerestransportfliegerregiment 30 in Fritzlar ( Hesse ) on the Fritzlar Airfield (Georg-Friedrich-Kaserne). It was created from parts of the German Army battalions 2, 5 and 12, it was under the to October 1, 1979 Heeresstruktur 4 neugegliedert and 1980 as a slight Army Aviation Regiment 30 on the niederstetten air base moved to the airfield Fritzlar for the reorganization of the later attack helicopter regiment 36 release . The regiment was renamed on October 1, 2003 as part of the " Army of the Future " project from Heeresfliegerregiment 30 to transport helicopter regiment 30. The regiment has the light transport helicopter Bell UH-1 D, also called "Huey". It can take up to 800 kg as external load and depending on the type of use six to eight soldiers transport and can also with two 7.62 mm machine guns of the type MG3 as Gunship be converted.

On December 17, 2013 in Fritzlar the airmobile brigade 1 was decommissioned by the brigade leader Colonel Michael Mittelberg. At the same time the remaining helicopter units of the army, the transport helicopter regiment 10 with the transport helicopter NH-90 , the transport helicopter regiment 30 with the transport helicopter UH-1D and the combat helicopter regiment 36 in Fritzlar with the support helicopter " Eurocopter Tiger " were placed under the special operations division in Stadtallendorf. On January 1, 2014, the Special Operations Division was renamed the Rapid Forces Division .

The aging Bell UH-1D was to be replaced by the NH90 transport helicopter from mid-2014 . The first of the planned 36 pieces of the NH90 was then handed over to the transport helicopter regiment 30 in December 2014.

With a delay of several years, the Bundeswehr received new Airbus H145 LUH SAR helicopters for search and rescue services in Germany in 2019/2020 . The decades-old Bell UH-1D, which was previously available for Search and Rescue (SAR) use, is to be replaced by the new model from 2020. On December 10, 2019, the regiment took over the first H145 LUH SAR (77 + 01) from the manufacturer Airbus Helicopters.
