Sanjar Tursunov (* 18th August 1998 in Uzbekistan ) is an Uzbek amateur boxer in the heavyweight division .

Career

Sanjar Tursunov is currently the youngest boxer in the Uzbek national team. The southpaw started boxing in 2010, won the Uzbek Junior Championships in 2013 and the Uzbek Youth Championships in 2015. In 2016 he won the youth tournament "Danas Pozniakas" in Lithuania and started at the Asian youth championships in Kazakhstan , where he won the gold medal. At the World Youth Championships in Russia in 2016 , he was eliminated in 11th place.

His first boxing tournament in the elite sector was the 2017 Asian Championships in Uzbekistan, where he was eliminated in the quarter-finals against Vasily Levit . In the box-offs he qualified for the 2017 World Championships in Hamburg with a win against Salar Gholami . There he defeated Jeffry Gonzalez, Yamil Peralta and Roy Korving , before he was eliminated in the semifinals against Yevgeny Tishchenko with a bronze medal.

He won the silver medal at the 2019 Asian Championships in Thailand and was eliminated from the 2019 World Championships in Yekaterinburg before reaching the medal ranks.
