Roy Korving (* 5. June 1995 in Zoetermeer ) is a former Dutch boxer in the heavyweight division . He is around 1.91 m tall and boxed in the right display .

successes

Roy Korving started boxing in 2009, trained with the boxing association Vermeulen Benthuizen and was the Dutch champion several times, most recently in 2019. He also won international tournaments in the Netherlands, the Czech Republic, Denmark, Bosnia, Finland, Lithuania, Germany and Poland, including the 2016 Chemical Cup and the Feliks Stamm Tournament 2017. He defeated Paul Omba-Biongolo , Aleksandar Mraović , Igor Jakubowski and Sadam Magomedow, among others .

In 2015 he reached the quarter-finals at the European Championships in Samokow and the World Championships in Doha , where he was eliminated by Terwel Pulew and Yevgeny Tishchenko . In the second round of the World Cup he had beaten Nikolajs Grišuņins .

In 2016 he took part in the Olympic qualification tournaments in Samsun and Baku . After victories against David Nyika and Efetobor Apochi, as well as defeats against Lawrence Okolie and Julio Castillo , he could not buy an Olympic ticket.

After he had also reached the quarter-finals at the U22 European Championships 2017 in Brăila , he was also called up at the European Championships 2017 in Kharkiv . There he won a bronze medal with victories against Nikoloz Begadze and Wladislaw Smyaglikow, as well as a semi-final defeat against Cheavan Clarke . He was qualified for the 2017 World Championships in Hamburg , where he was eliminated in the quarterfinals against Sanjar Tursunov . In the last sixteen he had again defeated Vladislav Smyaglikow.

He also won a bronze medal at the 2018 Chemistry Cup after losing to reigning world champion Erislandy Savón in the semi-finals . In April 2019, he announced the end of his career.
