Julio Cesar Castillo Torres (* 10. May 1988 in Durán , Ecuador ) is an Ecuadorian boxer in the heavyweight division .

Career

Continental championships

The 1.85 m high southpaw won a bronze medal at the South American Games in 2006 and a bronze medal at the Pan American Games in 2007 . At the Pan American Championships in 2008 he won the silver medal after losing in the final to Osmay Acosta .

In 2010 he won the Pan American Championships with a final win against Erislandy Savón and the South American Games with a final win against Jeysson Monroy. At the Pan American Games in 2011 he reached the silver medal after losing to Lenier Pero in the final .

In 2012 he won the South American Championships, but lost to Yamil Peralta in the 2013 Pan American Championships in the quarter-finals . Against this he was also eliminated in the quarter-finals of the 2014 South American Games .

At the Pan American Championships in 2015 he got out of the semifinals against Yamil Peralta without a fight and won bronze, he was also defeated in the quarterfinals of the Pan American Games 2015 against Deivis Julio.

At the Pan American Championships in 2017 , he was knocked out again in the semi-finals with 2: 3 against Yamil Peralta and won bronze, he was also able to win the silver medal at the South American Games in 2018 and the Pan American Games in 2019 .

World Championships and Olympic Games

At the 2007 World Championships in Chicago he was able to defeat Anastasios Mperdesis, but then failed against Kenneth Egan . He achieved his greatest success to date at the 2019 World Championships in Yekaterinburg . With victories against Remula Abudurexiti, Ádám Hámori, Sanjeet Sanjeet and Wassili Lewit , he moved into the final, lost there against Muslim Gadschimagomedow and became vice world champion.
