The Sankt-Trinitatis-Kirche is a Roman Catholic church in the city of Lübben in Brandenburg .

history

Before the church was built, the few Catholic believers in the region were looked after by the Neuzelle monastery and, after its dissolution in 1817, by Neuzell pastors. Catholic church services were held in Lübben two to four times a year.

With the growing number of Catholics in Lübben, the plan to build their own church arose. On October 2, 1861, a plot of land was bought and the foundation stone was laid on July 1, 1862. Augustin Nickel was introduced as the first pastor of the new church on October 19 of the same year . The keeping of the church records began on January 1, 1863. On October 4, 1863, Archpriest Theodor Warnatsch from Frankfurt (Oder) consecrated the Church of the Holy Trinity . The deed of establishment of the Lübben parish dates from September 17, 1864. From 1865 the first teacher did his job at the Catholic school.

In 1906 the church was enlarged. Today's neo-Gothic appearance with apse , crossing and the small tower is largely due to this conversion. The tower received a bell cast in Apolda .

In the course of time, several places in the area, which initially also belonged to the Lübben church, received their own churches and became church-independent.

In 1956 the church received a figure of Mary carved by the Cottbus artist Hertelt and in 1958 the figures of the Christmas crib . In 1964 the interior of the church was redesigned and renovated according to the specifications of the council . The Görlitz artist Nawroth made the Stations of the Cross pictures in 1977. The Jehmlich - organ dates back to the 1982nd

In 1995/96 the roofs of the church and rectory were renovated. In 1997/98 the rectory was modernized and the facades were renewed at the turn of the millennium. In 2005 a new parish hall was inaugurated.
