The St. Catherine's Hospital is a hospital of specialized care in Frankfurt . It is located in the Bornheim district of Frankfurt on Seckbacher Landstrasse.

history

The Sankt Katharinen Hospital opened on May 30, 1960. After the Second World War , the Catherine's Sisters , who had been expelled from their home in the Archdiocese of Warmia , came to Bad Rothenfelde . There they initially worked in a former Wehrmacht hospital, but when they were looking for their own hospital, they found the city treasurer of the city of Frankfurt am Main through the pastor Alois Eckert . After an agreement had been reached on the construction of the new hospital, the groundbreaking ceremony took place on November 28, 1957 and the topping-out ceremony on August 21, 1958. The hospital was opened on May 30, 1960, after the former Waldkrankenhaus Bad Rothenfelde with the staff of 120 employees and 80 nuns and all the equipment had moved to the newly built Sankt Katharinen Hospital. When the hospital opened, it had 454 beds and departments for internal medicine , surgery , gynecology , neurology , radiology and laboratory medicine . The new building was the work of the Frankfurt architects Alois Giefer and Hermann Mäckler .

An interdisciplinary intensive care unit was opened in 1970 and a central emergency room in 1983 .

In 1993 the hospital became part of the Society of the Catherine Sisters .

In 1999, the specialist department for gynecology was closed and a main department for urology was replaced .

In 2002 an extensive renovation took place with the new building of the central operating room , the intensive care unit and the emergency room, during which an in-house department for physiotherapy was able to move into its rooms. In addition, another building, the so-called "House L", was erected, which has two special insulation stations.
