Sankt Salvator is a district of the town of Bad Griesbach im Rottal in the Lower Bavarian district of Passau . Sankt Salvator is five kilometers north of Bad Griesbach on state road 2116.

history

The Premonstratensian Monastery of St. Salvator existed here from 1309 to 1803 . In the Hofmark St. Salvator, the monastery also exercised the lower jurisdiction . Until the dissolution of the monastery in the course of secularization, the village was of subordinate importance. It was not until 1803 that the former abbey buildings and the former collegiate church were also part of the village. In the same year the district court Griesbach took over the jurisdiction in the Hofmark.

In 1805, St. Salvator became the seat of a district forester who was responsible for the former monastery forests that had fallen into the hands of the state. In 1811 the tax authorities sold the monastery buildings to a private individual. The abbey buildings were converted into a brewery. Also in 1811, the St. Salvator tax district was created from parts of the Rainding and Steinbach chairmanship . The municipality of St. Salvator, which was established in 1818 and is congruent with the tax district, comprised 28, later 29 districts.

Until 1822 religious priests continued to pursue their pastoral and school duties. Only then did problems arise with changing substitute priests. In reverse of the earlier conditions, the former monastery church was now a side church of the parish church of Uttlau.

In 1834 St. Salvator became a curate and a school, a new school was built in 1892. In 1902 the parish of St. Salvator was established and the school service was separated from pastoral care. The school existed until 1969. The regional reform , which came into force on January 1, 1972, brought the incorporation to Griesbach. Pastoral care has been provided by the Bad Griesbach Parish Association since 1973.
