Franz Anton Rauscher (born May 6, 1731 (baptism date) in Aicha on the Danube , † December 2, 1777 in Niederalteich ) was a German painter .

He was one of ten children of the painter and innkeeper Joseph Rauscher (1683–1744) and his wife Maria Klara, née Plößl. After the death of his father, who was in the service of Kloster Niederaltaich , he moved to Niederaltaich with his mother at the age of 13.

Cosmas Damian Asam's student worked exclusively for church clients. He is best known as a fresco painter , but there are also some altar paintings by him.

A street was named after him in his home town of Aicha on the Danube.

The frescoes in the presbytery of Deggendorf's grave church (1766), the frescoes in the parish church of St. Augustinus in Viechtach , the mural in the choir of the city church of St. Magdalena in Plattling , the ceiling frescoes of the church of Windberg monastery and the stitch cap frescos in the nave are sometimes ascribed to him the parish church Kirchdorf im Wald .
