Santa Ana La Vieja is a town in the Tarija Department in the South American Andean state of Bolivia .
Location in the vicinity
Santa Ana La Vieja is a central place in the canton of Santa Ana in the municipality of Tarija in the province of Cercado . The village is located on the left, southern bank of the Río Santa Ana, which flows ten kilometers downstream into the Río Nuevo Guadalquivir .

Santa Ana La Vieja is conveniently located between the different climatic zones of the country on the edge of the Andes , so that mostly mild and pleasant weather prevails (see climate diagram Tarija). In the rainy season between December and February (summer months) there are frequent torrential thunderstorms. The rest of the year is extremely low in precipitation.
The landscape has been eroded by the centuries of clearing and the region around Tarija is framed by bare mountain ranges. The area around Tarija used to be Bolivia's grain chamber. Today, in addition to agriculture, the region is rich in natural gas .

Transport network
Santa Ana La Vieja is located twenty-two kilometers by road southeast of Tarija , the capital of the department.
The highway Ruta 1 runs through Tarija in a north-south direction, which leads from Lake Titicaca on the border with Peru via El Alto , Oruro and Potosí to Tarija and from there on to Bermejo on the border with Argentina .
Eight kilometers southeast of the city center of Tarija, the highway Ruta 11 branches off in an easterly direction from Ruta 1, and from here it is another six kilometers south on Ruta 1 to La Pintada and another four kilometers to the “Cruce Concepción” ". Here a country road branches off in a north-easterly direction and leads to Santa Ana La Vieja, four kilometers away .
