Santa Maria de Marvão is a municipality ( freguesia ) in the Portuguese district ( concelho ) of Marvão . It has 486 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
It covers the actual urban area of the small town ( Vila ) Marvão. Here you can find the pousada , the stake ( port .: Pelourinho ), castle and fortifications, and the city museum (port .: Museu Municipal ) housed in the former parish church . Even religious buildings , fountains, bridges, and historic public and private buildings sit under a preservation order.
