Santiago Martínez Caro

Santiago Martínez Caro (born November 30, 1926 in Seville , † May 31, 2001 ) was a Spanish diplomat .

Life

Santiago Martinez Caro was married to Maria Dolores de la Concha-Castañeda y Ortiz-Repiso for the first time. Their children are Elena and Santiago Martínez-Caro de la Concha-Castañeda . Santiago Martinez Caro was a member of Opus Dei , studied at Columbia University in New York City and received his doctorate in law . From 1959 to 1965 he was First Class Embassy Secretary in Washington, DC . From 1969 to 1975 he headed the administration of the Spanish Foreign Ministry under Foreign Minister Gregorio López-Bravo. In this function he also held a supervisory board mandate at the marine shipyard "Crisnavis". In 1971 he ran with the slogan "Dame tu problema, dame tu mano" (give me your problem, give me your hand) unsuccessfully as ombudsman for the fascist Corte de Sevilla . In January 1976 he became secretary to Juan Carlos I , who sent him to Ankara as ambassador in 1977 .
