history

The recording studio was founded in 1987 by drummer Cestmir Rydlink and guitarist Michael Lorz. The studio's first location was on Barbarastraße in Würzburg. Rydlink was previously involved in the Würzburg jazz initiative and until his death in 2008 Lorz was a member of Umsonst & Draussen eV, which supported the music festival series in Würzburg. In 1990 the team was expanded by lawyer Thilo Reimers (born November 28, 1958). The premises of the recording studio were later relocated to Eisenbahnstraße and finally to Max-Planck-Straße. A music label and a music publisher are connected to the recording studio .

Recording technology

The studio on Max-Planck-Strasse was divided into a 60 m² control room and a 35 m² recording room. There the equipment around the Atari ST 1040 plus got better and better. The analog tape machine was replaced in 1993 by a digital one (4 Adats with 32 tracks). An analog console from Allen & Heath Saber 40 in 16 in 2 with TT-phone patchbay was used as the mixing console. Sometimes it was recorded because of the classic tile sound in the spacious bathroom (25 m²). Mastering took place regularly on Revox PR 99 Mk2 or on digital audio tape (DAT).

The studio's repertoire includes 100 microphones . In use, among others, were Neumann U 87, U 89, AKG 451, large diaphragm tube microphone Schoeps, Shure 20, SM 57, E-Voice PL Monitor point, it was above all through conversion of Manger tapped.
