Sappho - Love without Borders is an erotic love drama from 2008 by Robert Crombie . It's about a complicated love triangle in the 1920s . The film was produced by Yalta-Film , a Ukrainian film production company. It was released in theaters on March 5, 2008 in Ukraine .

The film tells of a newly married couple, Sappho and Phil, who want to spend their honeymoon on the island of Lesbos in Greece , and Helena, the daughter of the Russian archaeologist Orlov. This film tells the story of the Greek poet Sappho in a modern version .

production

Sappho was shot in 2007 in Yalta on the Crimean peninsula on the Black Sea coast. Little known actors were intentionally hired to make the very provocative flick less conspicuous. In the Ukraine it caused a sensation because the film allegedly propagates lesbian love, which the church forbids. This can also be clearly seen in some scenes .

In the German DVD evaluation, the film received the title Sommerliebe with the original title as a subtitle.

Soundtrack

The music for the film comes from Maro Theodorakis and the well-known Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis .
