Sara Josefina Holmgren (born March 29, 1979 in Hörby , Sweden ) is a former Swedish handball player . She has been on the board of Svenska Handbollförbundet since September 2014 .

The 1.81 m tall circle player started playing handball in her home town at IK Lågan when she was 10 years old. At Team Skåne she made her debut in the top Swedish league at the age of 18. In 2001 Holmgren moved to the Danish club Horsens HK , with which she won the Danish Cup in 2004. From the 2005/06 season the right-hander ran for league rivals FCK Håndbold . From 2008 Holmgren was in the squad of the German Bundesliga club HC Leipzig , with whom she won the championship in 2009 and 2010.

So far, Holmgren has played 135 international matches for the Swedish team , scoring 180 goals. She took part in the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing with the "Three Crowns Team" . She is part of the roster of her national association at the 2009 World Cup in China .
