Sara (Sarah´le) Sharon ( Hebrew שרה'לה שרון; Maiden name Sara Age ; born February 4, 1948 in Ashdot Ja'akov Ichud , League of Nations Mandate for Palestine) is an Israeli singer and one of the founders of communal singing in Israel .

biography

Sarah'le or Sarale Sharon, as she is commonly known, was born in 1948 as Sara Alter in the kibbutz Ashdot Ja'akov Ichud in the Jordan Valley . She completed a music education training and worked until the age of 50 as a music teacher in the kibbutz and in surrounding schools. When a singing association was set up in 1978 at the suggestion of Yerucham Cohen, then head of the cultural department of the regional association Emek ha-Jarden , Sharon took over the leadership. In the 1980s, the club's events were broadcast on Israeli TV , and Sharon gained national notoriety. In 1993 she was selected with the ad hoc group Lahakat Shiru in the Eurovision preliminary decision and represented Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest 1993 in Ireland , but only reached the penultimate place. In 2018 she appeared in a documentary reality entitled “Better late than never” together with the actresses Rivka Michaeli , Nurit Gefen and the director Zipi Pines.
