Svendsen made her World Cup debut in November 2003 in Beitostølen , where she finished 66th over 10 km freestyle. She reached her first World Cup points in February 2008 at the skiathlon in Falun with 28th place. With the second Norwegian relay she also finished fifth. Two weeks later she achieved the best result in an individual World Cup race of her career with a 15th place in the 30 km freestyle at Holmenkollen in Oslo . In the Scandinavian Cup , she won two races in 2008 and 2009. Svendsen took part in the Tour de Ski 2010/11 , but did not take part in the fifth stage. Towards the end of her career, Svendsen started in the Marathon Cup . There she won the Jizera Mountains run over 50 km classic in January 2012 . In 2011 Svendsen was also third in the Birkebeinerrennet . In the overall ranking of the Marathon Cup, she took eighth place in the 2011/12 season . After the Wasalauf 2012, in which she was sixth, the subsequent Birkebeinerrennet, which she finished in 14th place, and the victory in the Flyktningerennet over 28 km classic, Svendsen no longer took part in professional cross-country races.
