Sarah-Jane (born September 26, 1985 in India ) is a singer of popular hits from Rothenfluh in the Upper Basel region ( Switzerland ). She works with the composer Carlo Brunner .

biography

At the age of six months, Sarah-Jane (daughter of Indian parents) was by a Swiss couple adopted . She spent her childhood in Rothenfluh and trained as a hairdresser. Sarah-Jane lives with her fiancé, Dani Sparn (band leader of the Alpenraudis and the Dani Sparn Orchestra) in the same house in Rothenfluh. ( Canton of Basel-Country ).

Career

In 2003 Sarah-Jane was discovered at the talent competition of the Alpenschlager Festival in Engelberg . In 2004 she achieved second place with the title I'm still way too young in the Swiss qualification for the Grand Prix of Folk Music 2004 , where she then had to be content with 16th and last place. At the Grand Prix of Folk Music in 2005 she achieved second place with the song Once back, once back after she had won the Swiss preliminary decision. On June 7th, 2008 she sang the Swiss national anthem in front of 42,500 spectators on the occasion of the opening of Euro 2008 in Basel .

Trivia

In a referendum in 2011 to subsidize the Basel Theater , differences between the voting behavior of the rural Upper Basel area and that of the urban districts became clear. The fictitious borderline in the canton has since been referred to as "Sarah-Jane-Graben" based on the Röstigraben .
