Career

Sarah Hildebrandt began wrestling as a teenager at Granger (William Penn) High School in South Bend Mishakawa, Ind. She later attended King University in Bristol, Tennessee. She was trained by Jason Moorman at the time. She has two brothers who are also wrestlers. She belongs to the New York Athletic Club and trains mainly in the training center of the US wrestling team in Colorado Springs.

Sarah Hildebrandt had her first notable successes in 2010 as a junior wrestler. She finished that year at the US Junior Championship (Cadets) in the weight class up to 116 lbs. (51 kg) took 2nd place and in the same year represented the United States at the Pan American Junior Championship (Cadets) in the weight class up to 51 kg, where he took 3rd place.

In 2011 and 2012 she was also US junior champion in the weight class up to 55 kg body weight. In 2013 she finished 4th in the US women's championship as well as in the World Championship elimination (trials) in the weight class up to 55 kg. In the same year she was used at the Pan American Championship in Panama City in this weight class, where she won the title before Yessica Coraina Ovieda Perez, Dominican Republic.

In the following years she won medals frequently at national championships and many strong international tournaments. However, she always failed in the trials for the 2016 Olympic Games or the World Championships from 2014 to 2017 to Helen Maroulis , the 2016 Olympic champion. Only in 2016 was she able to qualify for the world championship in the non-Olympic weight classes in Budapest. At the World Championships in Budapest she lost to Mayu Mukaida from Japan and Ramona Galambos from Hungary and only came in 10th.

In 2018 she was able to qualify again for participation in the world championship, which took place again in Budapest, in the new weight class up to 53 kg. In Budapest she achieved the greatest success of her career so far, because she was runner-up there with victories over Jildis Eschimowa, Kazakhstan, Angela Dorogan, Azerbaijan and Diana Weicker , Canada and a loss in the final against Haruno Okuno, Japan.

In April 2019 Sarah Hildebrandt won the Pan American Championships in Buenos Aires in the weight class up to 53 kg. In August 2019, she also won the Pan American Games in Lima in the same weight class. At the 2019 World Cup in Nur-Sultan, she started in the same weight class and initially won over Thi Dao Bui, Vietnam, but then lost to Mayu Mukaida from Japan and Vinesh Vinesh from India. She was eliminated and finished in 9th place.
