Since joining the German national team, national coach Jörg Helmdach has been added. She is a student with a technical college entrance qualification.
Her first big success was winning the German youth championship (international: Junior Cadets) in 2007 in the weight class up to 34 kg body weight. 2008 she won in this championship in the weight category up to 43 kg KG 3rd Place and in the weight category up to 46 2009 kg the 2nd place. Nina Hemmer celebrated her greatest success as a junior wrestler on the international wrestling mat in 2009 when she finished 2nd behind her Dutch training partner Jessica Blaszka at the Junior European Championships (Cadets) in Zrenjanin in the weight class up to 46 kg .
In 2011 she became German champion in the adult weight category up to 48 kg, ahead of Jasmin Sefidroudi, TV Aachen- Walheim and Annika Hofmann, RSV Frankfurt (Oder) . She was then used by the German Wrestling Association at the European Championships in Dortmund and surprised with very good performances. There she defeated Sanela Mehmedovic from Austria , then lost to Kristina Daranusa from Ukraine , won over Gratsiela Dragojewa from Bulgaria and Melanie Lesaffre from France and lost in the fight for the European Championship bronze medal against Cristina Croitoru from Romania . With the 5th place she achieved an excellent result. Then she won two medals at the international junior championships. In Zrenjanin she came in 2nd place at the European Junior Championships and 3rd place at the World Junior Championships in Bucharest , both times in the weight class up to 48 kg.
In 2012 Nina Hemmer became German champion again, this time in the weight class up to 51 kg. She won ahead of Luisa Niemesch from Weingarten , Katrin Henke from Torgelow and Eva Sauer from Schifferstadt . At the European Championships in Belgrade , the German Wrestling Federation used the experienced Alexandra Engelhardt in the Olympic weight class up to 48 kg. She won a medal there and later qualified for the Olympic Games. This blocked the way to the Olympic Games in London for Nina Hemmer. However, she showed no resignation and in June 2012 in Zagreb won the title at the Junior European Championship in the weight class up to 51 kg in a superior style. In the final, she defeated Patimat Bagomedowa from Azerbaijan , who was third in the women's world championship in 2011 .
In 2013 she won a bronze medal at the European Junior Championships in Skopje in the weight class up to 51 kg behind Patimat Bagomedowa and Stalwira Orschusch, Russia. At the Junior World Championships this year in Sofia, she came to a victory over Vladlena Widrenko from Belarus, but lost in her next fight against Patimat Bagomedov. Since this did not reach the final, she was eliminated and took 8th place. In September 2013 Nina Hemmer also competed in the Women's World Cup in Budapest. She lost in the weight class up to 51 kg against the strong Julija Blahynja from Ukraine just on points (12 rounds, 3: 3 points). Since Julija Blahynja did not reach the final either, she dropped out after this fight and came in 15th. In December 2013 she competed in the Nordhagen Classics in Calgary / Canada. She took 3rd place there.
After that, Nina Hemmer was injured for seven months (including a cruciate ligament tear). She made her first start after her serious injury at the beginning of July 2014 at the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid in the weight class up to 48 kg, in which she will start in the future because the weight class up to 51 kg, in which she has mostly started so far, is from the wrestler World Federation FILA was canceled. In Madrid she won and lost two fights each and took a good 5th place.
In her further career, remarkable successes alternated with great disappointments. In 2016 and 2017 she won a bronze medal at the European Championships . In 2016 she qualified in Zrenjanin with a 2nd place for the participation in the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. With Wanessa Kaladschinskaja , Maria Prevolaraki and Julija Blahynja she defeated three world class wrestlers . At the Olympic tournament in Rio, however, she was eliminated in the first round after a defeat against the Chinese Zhong Xuechan. Nina Hemmer also retired early at the 2017 World Championships in Paris and the 2018 European Championships in Kaspiisk due to defeats in the first round.
She celebrated a great success at the World Military Championship in Moscow in May 2018. She won there in the weight class up to 53 kg against Otgonjargal Ganbaatar from Mongolia, Tatjana Waransowa, Azerbaijan, Milana Dadaschewa, Russia and Liao Ring from China and thus became military world champion. At the World Championships in Budapest, Nina Hemmer shouldered the reigning world champion Wanessa Kaladschinskaja in her first fight, but lost in her next fight against the Canadian Diana Weicker.
