Julija Olehiwna Chalwadschy-Blahynja ( Ukrainian Юлія Олегівна Халваджи-Благиня ; born February 21, 1990 in Lviv ) is a Ukrainian wrestler . She is a multiple medalist at world and European championships.

Career

Julija Blahynja started wrestling as a teenager in 2001. She belongs to the Dynamo Lviv sports club and has been coached by Oleg Sasonov since the beginning of her career . She is a student.

It appeared on the international wrestling mat for the first time in 2007 and won a bronze medal at the European Junior Championships (Cadets) in Warsaw in the weight class up to 56 kg behind Henna Johansson , Sweden and Anastasija Grigorjeva , Latvia. In April 2008 she was used at the European Women's Championships in Tampere. She started there in the weight class up to 51 kg and won another bronze medal with a victory over Dilek Atakol, Turkey, a defeat against Sofia Mattsson , Sweden and victories over Maria del Mar Serrano Barcelo, Spain and Estera Dobre , Romania. Three months later she became Junior European Champion in Košice in the weight class up to 51 kg, relegating Marina Miljauskaja, Belarus and Dilek Atakol to the places. In October 2008, the eighteen-year-old was used at the World Championships for Women in Tokyo and won a bronze medal with a win over Park Hye-jung, South Korea, a loss to Marina Markewitsch, Belarus and victories over Dawaasüchiin Otgontsetseg , Mongolia and Marina Wilmowa , Russia.

In 2009 Julija Blachinja again won three medals at the international championships. First she won a bronze medal at the European Women's Championship in Vilnius in the weight class up to 51 kg with victories over Marina Chmjalnizkaja, Belarus and Sofia Mattsson, a defeat against Jekaterina Krasnowa , Russia and a victory over Renata Omilusik, Poland. She won the same medal a little later at the Junior European Championships in Tbilisi in the weight class up to 55 kg. She relegated Marija Gurowa , Russia and Anastasija Grigorjeva to places two and three. At the Junior World Championships in Ankara she was in front of Anastasija Grigorjeva, Renata Omilusik and Marwa Amri, Tunisia, junior world champion in the weight class up to 55 kg.

The series of successes continued in 2010. She was in June 2010 in Samokow Junior European Champion in the weight class up to 55 kg in front of Hafize Şahin, Turkey and Anastasija Grigorjeva and finished 2nd in the same weight class at the Junior World Championships in Budapest. In the final, she lost to Yu Horiuchi from Japan. She was not used in the women's championships that year. In 2011 she won the title of European women's champion in the weight class up to 51 kg in Dortmund. On the way to this success she defeated Deimantė Butavičiūtė, Lithuania, Marija Iwanowa, Belarus, Natalia Budu , Moldova and Estera Dobre. It was not used in the women's world championship this year either.

In 2012 she only competed in the World Championships in Strathcoona County. A start at the Olympic Games this year would only have been possible if she had changed the weight class, since the weight class up to 51 kg is not Olympic. However, she did not make this change, probably because she did not expect a chance of qualifying for the Olympic team in Ukraine, where there are many strong wrestlers.

An impressive streak ended for Julija Blahynja in Strathcoona County. Up to this world championship, she had won a medal at every international junior and senior championship in which she had participated - nine in all. She lost her first fight there against Risako Kawai from Japan and retired because this wrestler did not reach the finals, early from and came in 12th place.
