Lyudmila Balushka

Lyudmyla Myroniwna Baluschka ( Ukrainian Людмила Миронівна Балушка ; born July 27, 1985 ) is a Ukrainian wrestler . In 2012 she became European champion in the weight class up to 48 kg.

Career

Lyudmila Balushka started wrestling in 1999. Since then, Andrej Piskun has been her trainer. She starts for the sports club Dynamo / Kolos Lwow . She is a student and weighs around 50 kg with a height of 1.55 meters and starts in the lightest weight class in women's wrestling, which goes up to 48 kg.

Even as a junior wrestler, she regularly took part in international championships. She was very successful and became Junior European Champion in Tirana in 2002 in the weight class up to 43 kg and in 2003 in Istanbul Junior World Champion in the weight class up to 44 kg. In Istanbul she defeated Sigrun Dobner from Germany in the final .

In 2005 she took part in an international championship for women for the first time. She came in 5th place in the weight class up to 48 kg at the European Championships in Varna . In 2007 and 2008 she took a break from competition.

In 2009 she returned to the wrestling mat and won a bronze medal at the World Championships in Herning / Denmark . She won u. a. via Jaqueline Schellin from Germany, but lost in the quarterfinals against Maria Stadnik from Azerbaijan . In the consolation round, she then fought for this medal with victories over Tatjana Gurnowitsch, Belarus and Jana Stadnik , Great Britain . Lyudmila Baluschka was less successful at the 2008 European Championships in Baku , because she lost there against Christina Croitoru from Romania and only came in 8th place.

She did her next start at an international championship again in 2012. At the European championships in Belgrade she was in excellent shape and won the European championship in the weight class up to 48 kg ahead of Estera Dobre , Romania, Jaqueline Schellin and Marina Wilmowa , Russia . Despite this great success, she will not be at the start at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Irina Melnik-Merleni , the 2004 Olympic champion and multiple world champion , made a comeback after a four-year break and prevailed against her in the internal Ukrainian Olympic qualification.
