from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Sara Fulp-Allen (born July 22, 1985 in Redwood City , California ) is an American wrestler . She was Pan American champion in 2004 in the weight class up to 48 kg body weight (KG).

Career

Sara Fulp-Allen comes from a family of wrestlers. Her father Lee Allen was an Olympian for the United States in Rome in 1960 and her younger sister Cathrine also wrestles. She started wrestling in 1995 at a high school in El Granada , where she lived at the time. While attending Menlo College, she was a very successful WCWA (Womens College Wrestling Association) wrestler. Back then, her father was also her trainer. She was twice champion of America of the WCWA Association and in these years also "Wrestler of the Year" of the WCAW.

She now lives in Colorado Springs and trains at the Olympic Training Center of the US Wrestling Association with coach Terry Steiner. She is also a member of the New York Athletic Club .

So far, Sara Fulp-Allen has not been able to fully assert herself in her weight class (up to 48 kg body weight) in the United States, as she had or has very strong opponents in Patricia Miranda , Clarissa Chun and Stefanie Murata . But she is very ambitious and hopes to get to the top by the 2012 Olympics.

Sara Fulp-Allen, although she was not used at either the World Championships or the Olympic Games, has already stood "her husband" on the international wrestling mat at several important championships and numerous international high-ranking tournaments and has achieved some successes.

In 2004 she became Pan-American champion in Guatemala City in the class up to 48 kg body weight and in 2005 she finished second behind Larissa Oorzak from Russia at the Junior World Championships in Vilnius . In the same year she came in 3rd place at the Universities World Championship in Izmir behind Carol Huynh from Canada and Yuuri Funatsu from Japan .

In 2007 she came third at the Pan-American Championships in San Salvador in the class up to 48 kg, behind Mayelis Caripa Castillo from Venezuela and Lindsay Rushton from Canada. In 2008 she finally took second place at the Universities World Cup in Thessaloniki behind Nami Uchida from Japan, but ahead of Alana King from Canada and Anna Lukasiak from Poland .
