Dawaasüchiin Otgontsetseg ( Mongolian Даваасүхийн Отгонцэцэг , born September 26, 1990 ) is a Mongolian wrestler . In 2011 she became vice world champion in the weight class up to 51 kg.

Career

Dawaasüchiin Otgontsetseg started wrestling as a teenager in 2004. She belongs to the Darchan wrestling club and has been coached by Tsendiin Bajarsaichan since the beginning of her career . At a height of 1.55 meters, she wrestles in the weight class up to 51 kg body weight.

She began her international career at the Asian junior championship for the cadets age group (up to the age of 16) in Bangkok. She took 5th place in the weight class up to 49 kg. In 2008 she was Asian junior champion in Doha in the weight class up to 51 kg ahead of Ai Shimizu from Japan. In 2009 and 2010 she won a bronze medal at the Junior World Championships in Ankara and Budapest, respectively. In the semi-finals she lost against Valerija Tschepsarakowa from Russia and Sun Yanan from China and she won her medals through victories over Salina Sidakowa from Belarus and Raypal Priyanka from India.

In 2009 Otgontsetseg also won a bronze medal at the Asian Senior Women Championships in Pattaya. Only Tatjana Amanschol-Bakatschuk from Kazakhstan and Han Kum-Ok from North Korea placed in front of her. She won her next medal at an Asian championship in 2011 in Tashkent, where she finished second behind Zhao Shasha from China and ahead of Han Kum-Ok.

Otgontsetseg started in 2009 at the Senior Women World Championships in Herning / Denmark, but only came 14th after a defeat in her second fight against Natalija Budu from Moldova. She also retired early at the 2010 World Cup in Moscow. After a defeat in her first fight against Estera Dobre from Romania, she only finished 18th there. She then made a huge leap forward at the 2011 World Cup in Istanbul. She was there in excellent form and defeated Patimat Bagomedowa from Azerbaijan, Alexandra Engelhardt from Germany and Rathi Neha from India and was in the final fight against the Russian Samira Rachmanova , against whom she lost on points. Winning the World Cup silver medal was the greatest success of her career so far.

In order to take part in the 2012 Olympic Games in London, she had to train in the weight class up to 48 kg, as the weight class up to 51 kg is not Olympic. She also had to qualify for participation in London, which she succeeded in convincing with a tournament victory in Taiyuan / China ahead of Wanessa Kaladschinskaja , Belarus and Rebeca Ndolo Muambo, Cameroon. At the games in London she first won over Carolina Castillo Hidalgo from Colombia, but then lost to the experienced Polish Iwona Matkowska . Since this did not reach the final, she was eliminated and came in 9th place. In September 2012 she started at the World Championships in Stathcona County / Canada, but again in the weight class up to 51 kg. She was eliminated relatively early there after one won and one lost fight and came in 9th place like in London.
