Sarah Kernochan
Sarah Kernochan (born December 30, 1947 in New York City , New York ) is an American screenwriter and film director .
She initially worked as a journalist, wrote musicals, was successful as a singer and began her film career as a director of documentaries . With the film Marjoe about Hugh Marjoe Ross Gortner she won the 1973 Oscar for best documentary . In 2001 her film Thoth won the Oscar for best documentary short film. Sarah Kernochan is married to the playwright James Lapine .
