Sarah Stricker (* 1980 in Speyer ) is a German journalist and writer .

Life

Sarah Stricker grew up in Schwegenheim near Speyer and studied German, French and English literature in Mannheim , Charleston (South Carolina) and Dijon . She has lived in Tel Aviv since 2009 and reports from there for the German media on Israel and for the Israeli media on Germany. Her short stories have received several awards, most recently the Georg K. Glaser Prize .

In 2013, her first novel, Fünf Kopeken , was published, which was funded by the State of Rhineland-Palatinate through the Martha-Saalfeld-Förderpreis and received national attention. In December 2013 she received the Mara Cassens Prize , the highest endowed prize of 15,000 euros for a German novel debut. In their justification, the jury certified Stricker with an almost inexhaustible creative potential and the ability to negotiate great humanistic topics behind a language rich in images .

During the military operation Operation Protective Edge 2014, she wrote a highly regarded diary for four weeks for the features section of the Süddeutsche Zeitung, for which she was nominated for the Axel Springer Prize , among other things .
