Saraswati Bhattarai (born March 8, 1994 ) is a Nepalese middle-distance runner .

Athletic career

Saraswati Bhattarai gained her first international experience at the South Asian Games 2016 in Guwahati , where she finished fifth over 800 and 1500 meters in 2: 14.35 min and 4: 40.15 min. Thanks to a wildcard, she was allowed to take part in the 1,500 meter run at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro , where she was eliminated from the preliminary round with a new national record of 4: 33.94 minutes . In the following year she took part in the Asian Championships in Bhubaneswar over both distances , but did not reach the final with either 2: 13.99 minutes or 4: 41.43 minutes. In 2018 she took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta and reached 14th place over 1500 meters in 4: 34.26 minutes, while she was eliminated in the 800-meter run with 2: 12.85 minutes in the lead. At the Military World Games in Wuhan in 2019 , she did not reach the final over 800 meters with 2: 15.01 min and was over 1500 meters in 4: 41.73 min 14th. She then finished at the South Asian Games in Kathmandu in 2: 12.67 min took fourth place over 800 meters and reached sixth place over 1500 meters in 4: 41.66 min.
