Sargoth was a Swedish black metal - band , founded in 1994 in Sundsvall Patrik Johansson and Fredrik Sundin. The debut album of the band Lay Eden in Ashes was published 1998th The group's last known activity was in 2002.

history

Sargoth was founded in January 1994 by guitarist Patrik Johansson and singer Fredrik Sundin. The drummer Michael Nystrom, the bassist Johan Kempe and guitarist Roger Lagerlund soon joined the band. Lagerlund and Kempe soon left the band, however, and guitarist Christian Rehn ( Angtoria , Evergrey ) was brought on board. A six-track demo recording , Mörkrets Anlete, was recorded in the Mysak music studio in the spring of 1995 , produced by Leif Person and released that same year. In the summer of 1996 Michael Nyström left the band and the former guitarist Lagerlund came back, now as a drummer.

The debut album Lay Eden in Ashes was recorded at Dug Out Studios in Uppsala and mixed by Daniel Bergstrand, who also produced Behemoth , Meshuggah and In Flames , among others . The album was released by Black Diamond Productions in 1998 and by Avalon Records in Japan the following year . On the Japanese edition there are two bonus tracks Under Lucifers Banner and Into Darker Domains . Christian Rehn left the band after the debut to concentrate on other commitments. Bassist Kent Hofling remained a full member, and right after that, Olle Jansson became the band's second guitarist. A planned second album Under Lucifers Banner never came out and the band has since broken up.
