Saritaben Laxmanbhai Gayakwad (born June 1, 1994 in Kharadi Amba , Gujarat ) is an Indian sprinter who specializes in the 400-meter run and also competes in the 400-meter hurdles .

Athletic career

Sarita Gayakwad gained her first international experience at the Commonwealth Games 2018 in the Australian Gold Coast , where she finished seventh in the Indian 4 x 400 meter relay in 3: 33.61 minutes. At the end of August she won the gold medal at the Asian Games in Jakarta with the Indian relay in 3: 28.72 minutes ahead of Bahrain and Vietnam. The following year, she won the bronze medal in hurdles at the Asian Championships in Doha in 57.22 seconds behind the Vietnamese Quách Thị Lan and Aminat Yusuf Jamal from Bahrain. In addition, she won the silver medal behind the team from Bahrain with the relay in 3: 32.21 minutes.

Gayakwad graduated from Shri MR Desai Arts and Shri EELK Commerce College .
