history

Zbožnov is one of the oldest villages in the Skuteč area. The name of the village is derived from a pagan sanctuary. It is believed that Zbožnov was founded in the 10th century by Prince Slavník , who, according to tradition, owned a castle on the Humperky . The first documentary mention of Zbeznow took place in the country table in 1392 , when Smil Flaška von Pardubitz handed over the Richenburg with the associated 62 villages to Otto von Bergow and Boček II. Von Podiebrad . In 1454 a Rychta was first mentioned in Zbožnov. The school was built in 1824.

In 1835 the rustic village of Zboschno or Zbožnow , located in the Chrudim district on the road from Richenburg to Lusche , consisted of 26 houses in which 167 people lived. The school was under stately patronage. The parish was Skutsch . Until the middle of the 19th century, Zboschno remained subject to the Richenburg rule.

After the abolition of patrimonial Zbožnov formed from 1849 a district of the municipality Štěpánov in the judicial district of Skuch . From 1868 the village belonged to the political district Hohenmauth . In 1869 Zbožnov had 175 inhabitants and consisted of 27 houses. The volunteer fire department was founded in 1897. In 1900 Zbožnov lived 215 people, in 1910 there were 205. In February 1920 the construction of the road from Skuteč via Zbožnov to Lhota u Skutče began; In 1924 the road to Štěpánov was built. In 1930 the village had 227 inhabitants. Because of its location on the plateau, the village has always suffered from a lack of water; the wells at the top dried up in years of drought, those below the pond had poor water when it rained. On December 23, 1937, Zbožnov broke away from Štěpánov and formed its own community. During the Second World War the dam of the village pond was lined; A three-storey observation tower with a height of 15 m was built on the Heráně. After the great drought of autumn 1943, disputes arose in the village over the construction of a water pipe. On October 24, 1944, a German plane crashed in the field behind Zbožnov, and both crew members died. From February 1945 three Russian partisans found refuge in Zbožnov. The village was electrified in 1948. In 1949 Zbožnov was assigned to the newly formed Okres Hlinsko, and since 1961 the municipality has belonged to the Okres Chrudim. In 1959 Zbožnov received a water pipe. In 1960 Lhota u Skutče and Štěpánov were incorporated. In 1965 a bus line to Skuteč was set up. Between 1972 and 1974 the culture house with the schoolhouse was built. 1985 Zbožnov was incorporated into Skuteč. In the 2001 census, there were 126 people in Zbožnov's 54 houses.
